The Spectacular Pennine Landscape

The Saddleworth Hotel is surrounded by many places of interest.

Just five minutes away (and visible from some bedrooms) is the site of a Roman fortress, once a staging post for legions on the march. The historic area centred around the village of Uppermill is literally just down the road; amongst its many fascinating features is the Standedge Tunnel, one of the must-visit sights of the English canal system.

Dove Stones valley is surrounded by natural moorland and high outcrops of rock giving it a magnificent panoramic view of the southern Pennines. The woodland found here is a variety of spruce and pine, but more recently broad leaf species have been included to help provide a habitat for a larger range of wildlife. Dove Stones reservoir with it's breathtaking scenery is very popular amongst day walkers and family's out for a simple stroll or picnic, well worth a visit.

Vibrant Manchester with its superb shopping, cultural attractions and nightlife, is just thirty minutes away. The Pennine Way, with access to some of the UK’s most breathtaking scenery, is almost on the doorstep. First-class golf courses and many other leisure pursuits are all within easy reach.
